​Family: Nettle 

There are 2 subspecies.
ssp. ​gracilis​ (native to North America) is usually bisexual.
ssp. ​dioica ​(introduced from Europe) is unisexual, i.e. each plant is either male or female.  

Blooms: June to August
Habitat: Moist open and wooded areas.

Height: up to 2 m 

Flowers: very tiny in long spreading or drooping clusters. 

​The hairy stem and leaves sting if touched.
